Will Allow Equipment Manufacturers to Develop Mobile WiBro and WiMAX Solutions Based on Wavesat’s New UMobile™ OFDMA Product Portfolio
Montreal, Canada and Seoul, South Korea – January 9, 2006 – SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM), a global leader in providing mobile voice and data services and Wavesat, leading developer of WiMAX chipset, software and development platform announced today an agreement to cooperate in the development of WiBro/OFDMA technology for next generation mobile devices.
As part of this multi-million dollar agreement, Wavesat will work closely with SK Telecom (SKT) to develop WiBro/OFDMA SOC, system tools and a development kit based on the WiBro 802.16e S-OFDMA profile. The new UMobile™ (Ultra-Mobile) family of OFDMA WIMAX product portfolio from Wavesat will allow WiMax Wireless system providers (OEMs/ODMs) worldwide to quickly develop and deploy full mobility WiMAX and WiBro solutions.

Group Committed to 802.16e Profiles Backward Compatible to 802.16-2004
Montreal, Canada – (December 7, 2005) – Today’s operators require a solution which protects their investment and provides a sound business case for future development. OFDM with subchannelization may be just the cost-effective solution they are after for their migration from fixed to portability as a new task group was formed within the WiMAX forum to focus on 802.16e OFDM profiles. Wavesat announced that its Chief Scientist, Dr. Jonathan Labs, has been named Chair of the WiMAX Forum’s new Evolutionary Task Group (ETG), which was created to develop technical specifications for the evolution of the WiMAX Forum’s OFDM-based fixed and portable networks. In this leadership role, Dr. Labs will oversee the task group activities and provide guidance to the WiMAX Forum in developing 802.16e OFDM profiles providing compatibility for operators’ 802.16-2004 deployments.
"An evolutionary path from fixed to portability will boost the WiMAX momentum and be much more appealing to operators, providing continuity and the ability to upgrade service by protecting their investment," said Jonathan Labs, Wavesat’s Chief Scientist and Chair of the WiMAX Forum ETG. "The key is to develop an 802.16e OFDM profile backward compatible with the 802.16-2004 standard. In essence, we want to ensure that new base stations will be able to talk to earlier versions of subscriber stations while providing newly added capabilities to new subscribers. The same way, new subscriber stations will be able to communicate with earlier version base stations."
The ETG is part of the WiMAX Forum’s <11 GHz Technical Working Group, which also includes the Mobility Task Group. The main objective of the ETG is to develop technical specifications for the evolution of WiMAX Forum's OFDM based networks, complementary to 802.16-2004 as corrected by the IEEE Corrigendum and modified by the 802.16e amendment, primarily for the purpose of interoperability and certification of conformant subscriber stations and base stations. These profiles focus on simplicity, evolution and backward compatibility.
"The Evolutionary Task Group complements the existing Mobility Task Group and brings added value to the WiMAX Forum as we further chart the course for WiMAX technology development," added Ron Resnick, president of the WiMAX Forum. "The work of the ETG group addresses the needs of operators who want to focus on fixed market now with the opportunity to evolve to portability in the future."

Leading WiMAX Vendors Demonstrate TDD Interoperability in Beijing
Live WiMAX Network Featuring Interoperability Between Their Respective Solutions
Beijing, China – (November 8, 2005) – Several leading global wireless broadband equipment companies have reached a significant milestone in the development of WiMAX products at the WiMAX Forum’s Face-to-Face event in Beijing this week. Aperto, Axxcelera, Redline, Sequans, and Wavesat are featuring a live interoperability demonstration between the companies’ TDD-based WiMAX base stations and customer premise equipment. The demonstration follows the successful interoperability trials in which the companies participated at the WiMAX public PlugFest event in Beijing.
The live interoperability demonstration at the Face-to-Face event features voice, video and data communications on the live WiMAX network, and delegates and visitors at the event have the opportunity to preview a variety of applications running on the WiMAX equipment.
“The ability of WiMAX products from different vendors to interoperate with one another has been one of the major objectives of the WiMAX industry,” said Andrew Kreig, President, Wireless Communications Association International (WCAI). “This live demonstration of interoperability between five global vendors underscores that WiMAX will have the ability to deliver on the promise of ubiquitous affordable broadband connectivity.”

Steve Carson to Prepare Leading WiMAX Developer for Next Growth Chapter
Montreal, Canada – (October 26, 2005) – Wavesat, a leading developer of WiMAX silicon, announces the appointment of Steve Carson as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Carson’s main mandate will be to implement Wavesat’s corporate growth strategies.
Mr. Carson has spent over 30 years as a financial and operational officer in the telecommunications and professional services industries, most notably as CFO of AT&T's worldwide consumer long distance business; as well as CFO of AT&T Network Systems (now Lucent Technologies); President, COO and CFO of Claremont Technology Group; and President and COO of Castek Inc. His financial and operational experience has allowed him to lead and transform early development stage companies through financing, operational excellence and execution, and scalable business models.
He began his career at AT&T in the late 1960s and progressively rose through the ranks of the global telecommunications organization, providing senior financial and operational leadership. He retired after 30 years at AT&T, and subsequently joined Claremont Technology Group serving as its President, COO and CFO.

Montreal, Canada – (October 17, 2005) – The development of WiMAX mini-PCI module is a major step toward the availability of low-cost and small form-factor WiMAX Customer Premise Equipment (CPE); an essential ingredient to WiMAX mass market adoption. Wavesat, the first to deliver a fully WiMAX compliant chip to the wireless broadband industry in 2004, is still leading the industry’s advancement with the release of the world’s first WiMAX Mini-PCI Reference Design based on its award-winning Evolutive™ WiMAX Series chipset.
Wavesat’s 3.5 GHz Mini-PCI Design is a development platform to guide and support efforts in designing WiMAX compliant wireless systems using Wavesat’s Evolutive WiMAX™ DM256 chip. Wavesat’s Reference Design fully supports the WiMAX profiles included in the first round of certification, with 3.5 GHz RF interface, 3.5 MHz bandwidth and TDD as well as HFDD operation. The Reference Design includes the PHY and low-level MAC functionality with standard interface to customer motherboard as well as the RF circuitry.
